Oh man..

It has been a great week. Its crazy how fast thes days weeks months and transfers are going by. especialy right now Im having the time of my life.

Right now we have a huge teaching pool we have some where around 12 investigators but none of them seem to want to keep commitments and for me that really becomes quite draining. so out of a little frustration we put off some of our ETERNAGATORS and went and knocked the crap out of burbank. as per usual no success but I told my compoanion just as a little joke to liven our spirits " BECause of our knocking today a new investigator will show up at church and sha bam there she was and all she had to say to us was hey its good to finaly meet you I want to be a mormon. It felt good I think she will progress quickly but we will see. Its always better to do missionary work the lords way.

well Im having a little bit of trouble coming up with gift Ideas but Im sure I can come up with somthing I will let you know. thanks for the money I think I will be sending my bike home next month so yeah thats when you can be expecting it. tell dad he dosent have to put it together I think I will probably have to take it to a bike shope to get it put back together.

I miss you so much Im so greatful that you and dad decided to be together forever Ilook up to you so much I want to have and eternal companionship like you and dads.

well zone conference was pretty dern good we had alot of really good trainings and we gave one as well.

well I love you much and hope all is well we are just working our holiday butts off and its been super fun.

Well another week has passed us by and It ws great. My companion and i are still on top of the world.

Thanksgiving was so fun i made apple pie and we took it over to the mcguires house and had a wonderful time the were really impressed by the pie I just made some pie crust and then made an apple crisp in a pie pan it was way good. then after dinner we went to one of our investigators houses he was all alone for thanksgiving this year so we took the leftovers we reacevd from the mcguires and i made and extra pie and then we headed over to cheer up good old gary bell it was fun and he seemed to really enjoy it so Win.

The zone is doing good we are starting to see a little bit of and increase in our numbers we try not to focus on numbers but rather on people but as preach my gospel says it numbers reflect the desires of the heart. Its sure been fun to have a greenie in our zone weather. Its fun to see how much a brand new missionary lifts the work accross the whole zone. I love good old Elder Yovanno he has gotten over the shy what the crap did i sign up for stage and is biking his little heart out so he is doing good.

your thanksgiving sounded fun I love when lots of people come over and lots of food is available.

Im sorry to hear about tones adventure. so do we have a way to get to the logging roads these days? last i heard we were going to make a trail from don lakes place is that still going to happen?

well tomorrow is zone conference and our zone is hosting which means i am conducting kinda funny but we are also giving a training on companionship study it will be fun. we just had a mission wide leadership conference and president asked my companion and me to give a training on how to begin teaching it was fun we had a good time and it was a good training.

well today we went over to the carsons and washed our car and did our laundry then we came home and tidded up the place and now after we are done emailing we are going to play circle ball in studio city. so A pretty average pday but a fun one.

this week will be good we have lots of appointments set up. we will be busy.

how did ducatti like Foxy?

as far as christmas presents i dont think ill need to much seeing how Im coming home in almost two months im just working on a way to send my bike home brother carson is going to help me pack it and what not but I dont have any idea how much it will cost yet probably somewhere around $75.

well I love you all family and i think about you daily but no need to worry my hand has been set to the plow.

Well dear parents I love you guys.

Week one of transfer number 15 has come to an end and found me just as happy as can be. i love my new companion He is so excited to do the work with a happy heart its great. And I dont feel as tired or stressed Its like a breath of fresh air.

This week we had a greenie come to us from virginia it was great we got to go pick him up from the mission home with his trainer and It was so fun to see him in the rearview mirror trying to take it all in that this was where he would be for the next two years. im gladd he came to our zone family.

We made lots of progress in our wards in the stake we had a special ward mission leader/ bishop training by president martin and president klenk our stake president we were asked to come. it was great several times as both presidents were testifying the spirit was just so strong you could almost reach out and stuff your pockets full. i loved it we talked about ward mission plans and how to have them be more than a checklist but have them actually use divine revelation to guide them.

well life is pretty swell out here we are just getting ready for the holidays and trying to come up with creative Ideas to fully utilize our holiday time in contacting families and what not. I love it all sister sarah carson wants you to send her the recipe for penut butter balls and coconut balls.

well I love you much hope this email finds you well

Well Im thankful for just about everything. Im thankful for a chance of a life time to follow in the saviors footsteps and be a missionary. Im thankful for a family at home who loves and supports me no matter what I do, a dog you loves me unconditional as well, im greatful for my senses and t6he ability i have to take in all the beauty around me. im thankful for a supportive home ward and a supportive ward out here im greatful for all of the trials ive had to get me where i am now and the lesssons Ive learned duing them Im great ful for the proccess of being tried and tested because it always leads me to the savior Im geartful for a savior and that i can always trust him even when i cant trust anyone else or others loose trust in me I know that the savior will always stand by me and shore me up. \

well i just got an email from Elder Payton Newell and he is training how awesome is that. i just got a new companion and Im still in the same ward im pretty sure Ill be here till i go home I love it here this transfer is the christmas transfer Im excited. For thanksgiving we are going to multiple houses I beleive adn at one im even making pie crust i think I need to practice mom will you send me the recipe??

im really putting all my effort to raising the productivity in this zone we have some good greenie fire this transfer and im expecting big things I can feel it. My new companion already sounds and seems like my new best friend I think we are going to have alot of successes these last two transfers.

I talked to two of our investigators who are awaiting there bar exam results this week about what you said about becoming a lawer and they said that they enjoyed law school because they got a bachalors degree in what they would enjoy and then took a 2 year break from school and the end of which they were ready to go back to school so maybe lawering is still in the cards but Im liking the forestry Idea.

well Ive had my first taste of eggnog for the season and that pretty much means bufford is moving back in for the holidays Im gonna let him stay probably.

well i love you guys and hope all is well. Im working just as hard and as smart as I can i love your prayers.

With the Stevens family

Hello family..
Man things are going insane Im trying to keep up with all of everything but it just feels like it keeps going faster and faster.
things are good. After a particularly irratating Elder moment after we wre in the car I just laid it out I told him what was wrong how we could fix it what i was willing to do and it all came down to me saying Elder I can be your companion or i can be your secretary what do you want i can't do both. I could tell he wanted to challenge me but after a little silence he said your companion and All I said was lets go. and off we went we have taught 11 member present lessons which is a big deal and 13 other lessons which is a total of 24 lessons and for this mission that is a pretty big deal i really think we found our stride and Im glad. Its a little late but Im ok with that. I talked with preseident about our zone and he told me to pick a dream team so i suggested alot of green fire I want to leave this zone on fire I also picked a companion Elder Rickers who was in my district in canyon country he is a hard worker so I hope thats what happends president just told me to throw out a name and that was the first that cme to mind so we will see.

Im so excited to have a niece named stella just like the nutty professor.

i know that those are your dream jobs for me.. Id like to do it its just out there we will have to see i really like the take care of you and the home stead idea. with neals extra three acres we could have a phrisbee golf course and charge peopel 2$ to come and play that would be cool and we would get support from the PDGA and stuff we will have to look into it.

well favorite memory with nail. would have to be when I saved his life at the lake or the time right before i left when we cooked marshmellows on the pitch fork.

man I love you guys Im working hard so i can come home and live the life with you thank you for always standing by me and supporting me. I know i would never be ablet to face the giants i have without you as my steadfast parents.

man o man

so you my take another look at the picture from the stevens and look at brother stevens then go ahead and pop in the church classic DvD our heavenly fathers plan and if you are adding 2 and 2 you will notice that the guy in our heavenly athers plan is Brother stevens crazy huh.

I love this ward they are exciting and stuff.

I miss you guys tons and cati she better not be getting lazy. Ive gotta have an adventure companion.

welll you guys put a hold on getting old. you two are my bestest friends dont get crazy on me.

well I best be off i love you tons and am loving every second out here ill work till i drop no worries there.

10/10/11

wow life is a blur at this point i love it but things are crazy...

Its so much fun to be a zone leader I love helping missionaries. I had a sit down talk with my companion and I told him I want to magnify my calling and asked him how we could help each other do so. It threw him off a bit but I think he felt the spirit of the situation. we had an awesome training this friday at combined district meeting it was powerful. I really focused on how much joy ive experienced out here on the mission and how it came through the hard work ive put in.

It seemed to go well.

That is so fun that hannah went with dayton I love hannah fine And dayton.

my actual go home date is feb 8th

you should be getting a letter soon I just got one. what a wierd day that was its super wierd to see the actaul end is near. It makes me want to double my efforts.

well Im having a good life and loveing every second,,,

Love you all much

Hey family.... wow when did this week get over.. its crazy out here.. we just had one of our investigators get out of jail but he is on probation so he cant be baptized for a while. but we have 3 others that are really coming close to making the splash.. Guess what this wednesday a sister that i baptized in north hollywood is going to the temple and I get to go im so excited this will be number 2 for me it will be fun to be there for her and she dosnt know im coming yet so it will be a suprise... Man I love you guys and i miss you lots i love your emails and your letters they build me up and support me more than you know... today we went for a hike in the early morning and it was pretty awesome it followed a water way that had a steady centimeter of water flow which is pretty good for here in california. we tried to make a little dam like we used to in the good old crick at home but the water was moving too slow to even build up behind the dam so we had to give up. I cant wait to come home and hang with our neighbors it will be much fun always. so I heard presly is comondering my precious pooch, that doesnt sound good! remind Cati of her commitment to wait for me! Im glad to hear the roof was completed.. that sounded fun to go see a good old rainy football game i wish i could go Im loving the work still some times its hard because of companions and what not but i always have those good old gospel sharing moments where the spirit is telling us both what to say so it just feels awesome so I cant complain too much about the guy right? he is better than the past few thats for sure. well im kinda rambling here but im having a ball and working hard enough that the days are just flying by. they just dont seem to slow down at all but im sure grateful for the time I have had to be a missionary and the time i still have. i cant wait till conference we have our investigators excited and stuff so it will be a good old time. yes i did get my suits fixed and yes i was able to get some needed clothing namely a pair of brown shoes and a couple pairs of pants and some socks. so i should be good in the clothes sector for the long haul. happy anniversary when it comes. thank you mom and dad for being married in the temple and sticking to it. just last night i was testifing of what a blessing that has been for me and my siblings and for you guys.. we are tring to help a less active couple to get to the temple so I love you much and miss you the same i hope this email finds you well and dry Love your son Elder J Wayne Burbidge..

How did you feel about that cinnamon video it was pretty crazy huh.. it was weird as soon as i put the spoon in my mouth all the syliva just got dried up instantly. and then it started burning it wasnt too fun but now i can say i tried it. today was pretty good we went and played volleyball and had pizza and we went shopping at trader joes, that ws fun. this morning we went real early to the carsons and did our laundry and helped Bro carson load some of his trailers for work it was fun. I love them... well two of our good investigators went to jail this past week(I guess they werent so good) so we are setting new dates for new investigators now its hard to help people change there lives its crazy... but I love that there are those who do change and I love seening the love of the light in their eyes its great, its real most importantly. well good old silvia yochleson from the northhollywood area/ward is fixing my black suit so it should turn out good she is number one she is kinda like another grandma... as for worries of what will happen after the mission ive put those behind me it will still be hard but i can do it I only have a little time left. anyhow if im not careful with these last moments they will go by and leave me wanting. and we cant have that. i want to come home and stumble into your guys arms because i wore my self out in the lords work. well I love you guys and hope this email finds you well I sure love you guys Im sending home a camera card this week so that will be exciting.. until next week love your son Elder burbidge HURRAH FOR ISRAEL

Hey mom do you think you could make me a facebook so that all the people i meet here can add me and then you can accept them and then I wont forget anyone? I thought it might be a good Idea..... love you talk to you next week. On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 2:36 PM, Jesse Wayne Burbidge wrote: I sure love you guys Im so glad to have such a good support group... I know i shouldnt worry about school and what not but sometimes I find my self trying to figure out how im going to fit all of this together a family a job and school its over whelming but im sure that if i trust in the lord it will all work out. so today we went and kied up to the hollywood sign it was cool it was like a 8 mile hike but it was cool this week on wednesday we have a general authority coming namel Elder Golden from south africa or something its gonna be awesome we wants to have interviews with all the leadership so im way excited. thanks for sending the dog quote I never read anything that made me so happy I will follow catis example... so how far has the roof come is it almost done or is there still a ways to go? so are we going to be able to make a trail to the logging roads from don lakes house do we know? that will be a good project. Im loving my new area still there are alot of swell people and they are all really loving so its been alot of fun to get to know them better. Im just loving my life right now... Im studying the acts really closely its such a cool book. It just seems like a record of when the apostle said alright lets do it and went for missionary work holding nothing back I love it. It makes me feel like i want to step it up.... well I love you guys and hope all is well give cati a hug for me and tell her i love her... HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!!!!! love Elder J. Wayne Burbidge

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

wow life is crazy these days...we are really working our brains out i love it it sends chills down my spine. I wont deny that i do love coming home at night and just hugging my pillow because im about to shut down operations its a lovly feeling to be exhausted in the lords work. well I gotta tell you the coolest story ever that i didnt tell you last week. so I dont know if you remember the couple in my first area the Newmans? but they were the ones who got married and then the next day got baptized. well its been a year and some since then and they were ready to go to the temple two weeks ago. they got there endowments and they got seald for time and eternity and i got to be there... wow it was so special. it was so cool to see the ward turn out because A i know them all and B deeana the sister dosent have any family to love and comfort her and It was just so special to see the whole ordeal I was so happy and she gave me a big old tear filled hug in the celestial room and i didnt even feel bad. Its amazing to me how real the gospel is i could really feel it there in the temple with the newmans that day it really made me feel like i have a better idea of my future and family... Elder mcCorristin and i are still having a blast. sometimes i catch myself almost getting frustrated with his utah ness but then i snap out of it by thinking of my list of previous companions. but what is it about the utah missionaries that get on my nerves...? its been real hot here as well. it isnt in the 100s any more but its real humid lately. which is kinda poopy but hey "it all ends in a cool shower" right.. ? Its so cool that nicole and brydon live right next door to us Im so excited. lately ive been really nervous about life after the mission.. like school and stuff i just dont feel confident that i will be any good at college... Ive been thinking about all the things i need to do but it gets in the way out here i dont like it too much any suggestions? yeah the video was fun i love the carsons they just seem like bro and sis i cant wait for you guys to meet them they are our kind of people. i got paytons email from sarah it sounds like he is the number one missionary I wish I was his companion. Its kinda funny how he wants to punch his companion in the face i always wondered what it would be like for payton to have a companion on the mission. well what can i say I love you guys and miss you a ton... love Elder burbide

Jesse Got Transferred!!! 8-22-2011

Alright family its transfer p-day and its time to go. Ive spent close to 8 months in this blessed area and now I'm headed back to the valley. It turns out that ill be going back to the zone i left although it will be a new area the Burbank 3 ward.I will also have a new assignment. President called on Friday and asked if id be a zone leader In the good ole East Valley zone. wow I'm nervous but confident that the lord called me so gotta do what you gotta do.It will be exciting mostly to have a companion that wants to help. I don't want to complain but there have been a string of companions that lets just say that i learned alot from. I feel that i did all i could to help them though. It will just be fun to have someone who wants to share the load.

Back to the city then back to the crazies. Ive enjoyed the laid back atmosphere here especially on p-day when we do our shopping. when your in the valley it always feels like your trying to get on the last helicopter out of vietnam. but it will be a good adventure.

the carsons will be close so that will be fun to see them every once in a while. this may be my last area thats crazy.

Im sorry i emailed so early but ive gotta finish up packing and getting ready and then a member is gonna pick me up and take me down.

we had another baptism this weekend it was awesome. The Stevens family has been completed now its off to the temple in a year. i told them id do everything i could to be there wouldnt that be cool. Its been a super good transfer for harvesting and its great because of the hard work that goes into just having someone to teach around here.

so are nicole and family there yet? dont forget to tell me where neal is living.

how is the precious pooch?

I got an email from president larson last week.all of my suit pants got repaired although on my black suit the repair didnt hold so im gonna have to get another repair. luckily i know the lady for the job down in north hollywood.

well will be off now i miss and love you guys and hope all is well.

have a good week and stuff.

MAn the weeks sure do fly by out here sometimes i think about them and i just want it to slow down but i figure i can either jump in and become the lords missionary or just think of good ole times i think the eternities will be an allright place to ponder on our lives and what we did.

wow good ole elma a zoneleader area i like the zoneleaders with a greenie idea who is the mission president these days?

So you still havent told me where is neal moved to? and whats this about nicle moving into the home place i thought brydon worked in belvue?

Im excited for them though it will be fun to have someone else close by.

alright so this last saturday we did some awesome service... so this member in our ward Brother Potter also one of our ward missionaries needed some trees removed and he was talking about it over dinner on friday.. I told him i knew a thing or two and offered our help.. so there i was with a chain saw in my hands the next day just fileting a big old apple tree and a bigger fig tree. it was so fun we worked hard and ate figs (i dont really like themthat much). it was great and after we got the trees down and chopped up he asked what is customary to do with the stumps i told him of a few methods and one of these said methods was to rent a stump grinder and grind it out so he said if i could run it he would rent it. so there i was grinding away.. it was awesome we got it all done in a timely manner namely 2 hrs it was great. when we got done bro potter asked the rental guy how much a tree service would cost hear around town and the guys said from top to bottom it would be 400 to 500 dollars a tree dang right these californians so we did a good dead and it was reminicant of home...

I have really enjoyed being here in canyon country it has been fun to be here so long as well i feel like im a part of the ward and that they trust me.. its fun when we get a call and the members want us to come over for dinner because they have some friends over.. you just feel like they trust you so i love it.

well we have another baptism coming up on the 20th that makes three for this transfer wich is pretty stinking good i love being able to see people follow through with what our hevenly father has laid out for our success..

well as for today im not sure what we will be doing but i know it will be great thanks for the money.. my clothes are just starting to go the way of the bufalo.

well next weeks email will include where and if im leaving its getting pretty exciting im pretty sure i will be outta here its my time ive been here for 7 and a half months crazy huh. i would love to stay but ill go where the lord wishes.

I miss you guys like crazy I love having the most number one support system in the world thank you guys for all you do for me. i dont know where id be without you.

Im staying as healthy as possible im staying clean and making sure my living area is as well...

I love life and feel good
love you tons

man o man

sounds like you guys had quite the adventure.. im glad it turned out good though im excited for the elma trek i want to help out too..

how exciting is necolas news im so excited to finaly have family close by..
I got payts letter as well sarah forwarded it to me. Im sure proud of him it sounds like he hit the ground running it feels good to be some what shoulder to shoulder with that kid while we are out on our missions serving the lord.. when you told me about dad and tone pulling that handcart together it made me feel empowered like i was pulling my own and then there's payt and i feel like we are just pulling along together... things seem so great right now My life feels happy there is always the mantle of a missionary to think about but i love that too. nothing can come my way. i have been thinking alot about my mission and the things ive been able to do and my goals at the beggining and now and how ive done... My biggest goal in the beginning was to always have the misson presidents love and trust. this last interviews we had a good talk about things and he said how much he trusted and appreciated me and the missionary i was... that meant the world to me i felt so good and continue to press forward in this work... I am bringing others with me which always makes me feel good. I feel empowered by living the legacy that has been laid before me. this sunday we taught the young men and we started by asking everyone who there hero was and some things that made them their hero. Then when we had all talked about our heros we talked about living the legacy that our heroes laid before us.. I testified to them that they could become and probably already are sombody elses hero I testified that the priesthood and the church teaches us men how to become such heroes it was good the spirit was there i loved it.

we also had a baptism this weekend it was grreat the spirit was so strong there and the program was perfect. we are really focused on helping her to move forward in the gospel it is a blessed jorney.

well Im glad to hear that everything is going well at home i sure love having you guys as parents thanks for your love and prayers you guys are truely my best friends. as far as things i need ive noticed that my clothes are wearing thin my black suit isnt dong so good i have holes popping up all over the place and ive devoted the worst pair of the two pants to patching material. My blue suit that dad gave me has stayed nice except for at a recent leader ship conference my back pocket got snagged on somthing and ripped the back pretty bad pretty embarrassing with the sisters present and what not, but a lady in the ward is seein if she can repair the damage. the shirts you guys sent in feb have saved me im just trying to strench all of my clothes a little longer.

other than that im good ill let you know if everything gets repaired alright...

well i love you guys and will talk to you next week...

Love your son

Hi!
We just got home from Ut.
The Trek ended yesterday @ about 2:00 p.m. and we got home at about 4.
And WOW, what an experience. You would have been proud of Anthon ~even though he grumbled and acted like he didn't want to be there or be doing this~ he was out front of the cart the whole time w/ ropes strapped across his chest pulling the cart w/ dad and Tyler on each side of him. It was great. (I'll send you some pictures) We started out Wed. morning, all mtg @ the Kaysville bldng. Then we drove to Wyoming where the church owns a 286,000 acre cattle ranch, which we Treked right through the middle of. It was a TON of work and having all the kids with was crazy, but very realistic! Our family consisted of Jane & Robert, Sarah and her two boys, April, Dustin and their 5 kids, Morgan and Ben; Willie and Jeff; Tyler, Jessica and their two; Anthon, Jennie and their 3; and us. We pushed 2 handcarts. We went about 27 miles in 4 days. I will never forget how I felt watching Dad and Tone faithfully pulling the cart, getting us safely to our destination each night and seeing faithful Jennie encourage us and inspiring us with her strong testimony of the gospel and the importance of family! (I'll send you a copy of my journal entries if you'd like better details)
We took lots of notes on what we liked and didn't like that will help as we plan for Elma Stakes first Trek.
We had Sean Robbins watch the place while we were gone and he did a great job.
The big news is Brydon got a job like dad's in the Bellevue area!!!! Isn't that awesome? We are so excited ~ he starts Sept. 6th and the church is gonna pack up and move them. Can you believe it?
It was an uneventful ride home ~thankfully!
I just read a letter from Payton that Sarah forwarded to me. Sounds great. He said it's been so hot, they were eating dinner with a family and he watched a cube of butter melt before his eyes!!!
Hope you're well and happy! Is there anything you need?
Well, I hope that you can have a fun p-day.
I love you tons and tons ~ it was great to hear Baylee and Boston praying for you all on their own when it was their turns to say the prayers.
Love Eternally,
~Mom~

dang sounds like home is changing a bit..

I'm so excited right now we have two solid baptisms coming up and transfers seem to be just around the corner. we had interviews with president this last Friday i sure love that man. we had a good discussion he said he was happy with he way the district was looking and he told me he was happy about the missionary i had become. He said something that meant allot to me as well he said that every one of my companions has learned something from me and that they have all felt better for having been my companion. I felt like a major goal of mine was being fulfilled. then he also said that he trusted me a great deal. that has been a goal of mine since the beginning of my knowledge of mission presidents. I also found out that this transfer i will most likely be being transferred. its a bit bitter sweet i love these people and the area. at the same time i feel very ready to leave the missions hardest bike area and expand my horizons... we will just have to see what is to happen...

I didn't even know that Larry Berndelli was into cars that much.. was it the show and shine.

man every month they have a car show here in canyon country. thats one thing southern California is good for preserving the classic cars. it is cool and is a good contacting activity not to worry we don't stay for an exorbient amount of time you will see the pictures its awesome

I too have been trying to put forth an extra measure of effort to have a high quality journal I'm still not so good at it but am improving i do take allot of notes in trainings and talks though.. i pride myself in my new found skill of note taking.

well i hope all is well at home i cant believe you and dad are gonna be trek leaders maybe i will come and be a scout for ye...

well I don't know to well what we will be doing this day its my companions turn to decide so it will probably be a more relaxed day we will see.

I love you guys
thanks for being my eternal mom and dad.

Hey Jess,
Can you believe it? August already!! What ya gonna do today?
Tomorrow we leave to go to Utah and you'll never guess what ~ Pres. Larsen called us into his office last night and asked us to be the Trek leaders for our Stake. We're going to do Trek in July of 2012. Crazy huh? We're really not that kind of people but look @ us!!! We Skyped Anthon and Jennie last night (they said they got your letter and pictures and loved it) and they're all ready to go on their family trek. We're gonna be traepsing around Wyoming for a few days w/handcarts!!! Both dad and I have to work today or we would have left already!
Sean Robbins is going to take care of the animals while we're gone. We'll make sure he's aware of Cati's high quality!!!
Yesterday I went to church in Ocean Shores w/ the R.S. crew. They had a new Presidency there for us to orientate. The theme for Sacrament Mtg. was Family History and Journal keeping. I have always kept journals off and on but after their talks want to do better. I can see the importance in having a well kept, well detailed journal. with dates of births, marriages, ordinations etc. and experiences you've had that may help others when faced with similar things you've been faced with.
Did you get the pictures I sent you yet? I think I put them in the mail Fri. morning so maybe not. They're of our visit from Sis and Fam. We sure had fun with them here. Lynsie bought plane tickets and they will be here the end of this month. We are so excited for that visit also.
It was the car show here on Sat. That sure had some beauties!! Larry Birindelli had two there, a Black Chevelle convertible (gorgeous!!!) and a blue Nova (I think) w/NOS!!! It was fun to walk around and look at them and all the hard work people put into them. WOW!!
It was also the motorcycle weekend in Ocean Shores. You know how you hear nothing but bikes all weekend? LOVE the sound of all those Harley's!
You asked us to tell you stuff that's going on around here ~ well guess what, we don't know anything!!!! Without kids living at home we don't hear about anyone! I see some kids @ court now and then but noone you hung out with!! Everytime we go into Elma it seems the same. OH, I saw Laurie Holdsworth the other day. They were here visiting from Japan for a month. She said to tell you Hi ~and~ they're tearing trees down like crazy for the new hospital site. It looks really different. Otherwise all is the same!
Have a fantastic day today.
I'll be thinking about you.
I love you tons and tons

well family here comes an early email i hope it finds you well. I miss you.

This week has been number one... we just had a baptism and a marriage it was so cool the marriage actually came before the baptism. these next two weekends we have baptisms the work is just on fire here im loving it. two of the baptisms and the marriage are completing a broken family it feels good to be able to serve these people... its so cool they are already setting the goal for the temple...

Friday we had district meeting. we set some noble district goals. we are really focusing in the misssion on becomeing better missionaries that go and do. its been fun to aid in the raly of the troops. i shared some of my favorite qoutes from apostles through out the years and i shared Alme 36 22-26. I love thos chapters where alma is giving his sons council. the verses i shared i felt were a noble testimony from a returned missionary to his son. I then told them that we are on missions to aid in the work of the lord witch is to bring to pass the immotatlity and eternal life of man. I promised them if the would give their lives to christ that they would find them just as jesus himself promised. I felt the spirit and im sure that those present did as well.

man the otherday we were biking up shangri la a notoriously steep long hill in our area and as my legs of thunder were pumping up this hill much like the pistons on a ferrari my chain snaped in half. just blew up. i was sad especially because of the age of said chain it shouldnt be breaking not with the miticulous mantinece performed on it so i took it to the bike shop and the guy is so nice this makes the 5th time i have brought my bike into him with questions and free of charge he just ups and fixes it and showes me what to do as well. gotta love it.

well today this email is early because the family carson is coming from the valley/noorth hollywood to treat me and my companion to a wonderfly fun filled day. I hope all is well for you i just got an email from tone it was good to hear from him. well if you get the chance takes some wilderness pics for me so i can see the good ol washington landscape... and home and the dog and you guys..

welll i must be off but I love you guys and miss you much.

Thanks a Billion for the Cookies they are soo good i have to hide them from the rest of my apartment. I am sharing you need not worry... Im actually sick of sharing now that you bring it up well with missionaries that is. My new saying around the apartment is if you give a missionary a cookie he will probably want everything you own to go with it.

I sent tone a letter a few days ago I remembered it was his birthday and sent a letter with some pics up there....

It sounds like party days with sis and the kids Im glad you guys get to have so much fun. weve had an influx of new investigators this week and it feels good especialy in the heat its nice to have little victories here and there. especially when you sweat out your braineal cortex...

well we just got transfer calls this saturday and i am so suprised but im staying here for another one. Ive been here for over six months today. this means i only have about 6 and a half months left and i have only had 2 areas this whole time i love it though and the people arnt complaining about having elder burbidge around so im happy. I would like to see more of the mission however. but im loving life....

so this end of the transfer we have been trying to work with the zone leaders to ramp up missionary work attitude and stuff its been good this last district meeting was so cool. the zoneleaders and the two district leaders gave trainings on missionary habits. I really felt inspired to tell the missionaries in the zone how important these things were and vital to our success for the rest of our lives... it seems more and more that its not cool in our mission to be a good missionary... I told the zone that i felt our mission was being overrun by agnostic missionaries so we all sincerly commited to have a sweet transfer starting today.... And we all received Presidents email today and in it he talked about all the things i brought up in my training... I was glad to know that i was going off inspiration and not just what elder burbidge wanted.

well thanks again for the package... The nuetella was much appreciated...

love your son

Im glad to hear that Presley is taking care of my precious pooch. why doesn't Logan like his kitty? He probably wishes it was a dog.

I miss the home fireworks... our fourth is full of food we have been invited to about a hundred BBQ s i don't know how we are going to make all of them. but tonight we are going with a family(two of the people therein have Baptismal dates) to have a BBQ and then i guess there is some big show that we are gonna watch from this peek in our area from the top of this mountain you can also see magic mountain the theme park and i guess they have a crazy awesome show. but we will still be returning home at 9:30 fear not...

I'm glad Grandma D is 95 and still having bigger birthday parties than me... kidding.

how old is Els these days???

Im glad to hear that the pool got put somewhere else it was time.

beloved family.

life is great out here in california. the weeks are pouring by it seems every time i blink ther is less time out here but thats the way it goes.

so this last district meeting we trained on chapter 11 of preach my gospel. "How can i help people make and keep commitments". I was reading through it and thought man we should probably be commited as missionaries. so the training was ch 11 but aimed at us "How can i make and keep commitments" namely our commitment to be converted to the gospel of jesus christ. it was good the spirit was so strong it was probably the best training ive been to i loved it. the cool part was the missionaries were taking notes so i knew that they were feeling it to. If you guys get a chance read chapter 11 but but switch things like "the people you teach" "them"they" to I me and we it makes it really powerful especially with the end talking about testimonies it turns it on us that we have the opportunity to bear what we know!

so it was fun to hear about payts talk and stuff. its so cool that we are going to be out at the same time.

well i wish i was gonna be there with nicole and fam. it will be fun.

YOU got two kitties????

what did you name them??
Im sure cati will love them she is a good dog.

man i miss that dog so much i cant lie she has always been my best girl for sure.

so im in need of a couple things down here. could you send some more stamps and some hair glue i havent been able to get it because we are stuck here in this little valley with little to no access to the outside world. if you can that would be awesome.

i miss you guys I hope all is well. tomorrow is zone conference. Im excited great things are coming to pass here in this zone it has been so cool to be a part of it i love it.

well tell becole i say i love her and hi and brydon and kamdin and logan and presly and the new one on the way.

well off to the many p day possibilities. hope all is well.

Flip sounds like life at home is pretty dang fun... that sounds fun going down to seaside and astoria and stuff is cati going? tell her i miss her..

well im still getting used to this transfer the new group of elders i live and make up my district w are different than what im used to but its all good.

So sushi... Some members in our ward took us out to sushi the other night and it was my first time for me but i have to say that i absolutly loved it. I really want to go with you and dad i think it would be funny to see how dads eat anything and everything attitude would change. they say that raw fish is the best meat for you. dont judge a book by its cover you will have to try it with an open mind.

the canyon country 1st ward feels just like home i have been really lucky on my mission thus far to be in really home like wards i love it.

well this week the work has been good it feels slow but we are teaching alot of lessons. its summer so its harder to find people in a ready to learn about church state. But the work goes forward regardless of poopy people.

welll i hope all is well and that home is a happy place it was weird the other day i was talking with another elder and he asked how much time i have left can you beleive that i only have 5 transfers left. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. well i have to loose alot of weight before i can come home and go to the meat market over there in idaho. I have been thinking about joining the air-force and becoming a fire fighter therein.... lots of ideas flotin around in the trusty nogin.

well i love you guys and will talk to you later

YO Fam

well I got a new companion and calling it turns out that president has been sending me the troubled elders as of late and for this transfer he took on aother one. this guy has been out for a little over 6 months his name is Elder Hokenson. I am feeling tired. my skin is starting to resemble chewed leather.I am also district leader of the canyon country district. Kinda crazy huh. well I hope i make it through this transfer alive.

so im glad to hear that you got to go see corynn go through the temple thats so awesome. did you guys tak her on a hike club hike. are you guys still even doing that?

as soon as i get dads letter i will send my current picture card.

Im working hard and seeing blessings we just got a couple new investigators and this past sunday every one of the people we have been teaching showed up to church. my heart was swolen with graditude. it was also great sacrament meting we had a bishop switch so we got to here the testimonies of the old and new bishopric it was great and really cool for the people that we had there to see. Elder cottle and i also had the opportunity to teach the second hour gospel essentials class i showed the movie "only a stone cutter" and we talked about how faith is a principle of ACTION and POWER. I love that statement and there are so many good examples of people who take the action and build their faith. its cool because those sorts of people always have a profound impact on me thus building my faith. You and Dad are two such examples thank you.

well not to much else to report its transfer P-day so we are kinda busy figureing out how we are going to swithch companions and not leave anybody alone but it will all work out.

well life is tough and good I love you guys

well today is going to be a great day.

today we dont have too much planned we no longer are aided by having a truck they ended up selling it out from under us. so my companion still refuses to ride a bike even though he has one so here we are on foot. which is ok by me.

That fireside sounds like fun i wish i could have been there.

one Saturday this lady that me and my old companion elder wood found got baptized. it was awesome she got baptized at the north hollywood building so i got to go down for the baptisim it was so fun to see all of the people there. it was also cool to see the baptisim of someone that i found it seems like that doesnt happen very much. I dont know if you remember Albert and old investigator of ours in North Hollywood but he just happened to be there it was wierd because the missionaries havent even been teaching him so i dont know how he wound up coming he just showed up it was cool.We also got to go see the carsons it was so fun i love going back and their kids ar so excited to see me just like my nieces and nephews. so Justisn and sarah carson are going to be in washington in couple of weeks i told them they should meet up with you guys. so You should meet up with them in seatle if you can that would be so cool they are dying to meet you guys.

this last week was really good we made alot of progress with our investigators i felt like.

Im starting to feel more at home here now just like my last area. there are allot of families i am really close with its such a fun ward.

Im glad you liked the mothers day card.

how was cati when you got back? tell her i say hello and tell her i miss her an awful lot. so when does payton report to the MTC? man im so excited that he is gotting out there its gonna be so cool to hear all his mission stories.

Well life is pretty good out here in california I hope all is well at home

Dang

this week has been awesome.!!!!!

I wish i could have seen you and you sisters you guys always crack me up when you are all together. ive never seen wicked i dont even know what its about.

Dont get sucked away by a tornado. isnt it that season? I really wish i was coming with you. I wish i could see a tornado. did you hear about alabama we have a member who has a daughter who lives out there. pretty scary.

so mothers day is rounding the corner so our church is at 11 and gets done at 2 we will hopefully be goin over to someones house to call maybe we will go over to the lees. but our number is ***-***-**** i dont even know our house number anymore so i guess i will just call you cell phone it will probably be around 3 or 4 that we call.

Yesterday we had the most special baptism of my life it was #1. His name is Harald Azuma he has brain cancer i already told you about him but the guy cant even stand we had four elders holding him just like he was a little kid. when i sad the prayer i was over come by the spirit it was so strong. he is so full of faith it was cool. Im way excited to continue helping him. also earlier in the week Herald went to the doctor and the doctor said we cant really keep doing chemo unless your blood platelet count comes up and if it doesnt come up we can only comfort you until the end. man I didnt know what to say we sat there in silence herald was pretty emotional. then moroni ch 6 came to mind the part about taking the names and remembering them he liked that and seemed to get a boost. Today we are going over to watch him. his wife has to go somewhere so i offered to go over and hang with him it will be fun its our p-day.

one other crazy cool thing yesterday we went to a birthday party for a member in our ward. there was a couple nonmebers there i was talking with him he was really cool we talked for a long time i told him if you have questions call this number our go to this web site yada yada yada. then we were takling about where he lives and he is throwing out all these street names that are really familiar it turns out that he lives three houses down from our mission president well the mission home how crazy is that it was funny.

well where are you guys going to be on mothers day?

I cant wait to talk to you. Everything is wonderful here.

well i love you guys and hey are you sending the picture card home?

hmm no email?

well life is good here we have a baptisim coming up this saterday im nervous but excited im nervouse because he cant stand on his own and so that means there will be 4 guys in the font but its just kinda crazy.

other than thats its just been a pretty regular week i got a new companion his name is elder cottle. Im still trying to get used to him. he can be a punk sometimes. got ta love the greenies.

we now have a truck because Elder cottle couldnt do the hills around here i guess the guy aquired some kind of lung condition... hmmmm?

well life is being loved by me. and i fell happy and free.

oh for moms day i dont think we will be able to skype this time. I guess our mission pres thought it out and doesnt think its a good idea so we shall heed the council. but our number here is ***-***-**** and what the heck is the number i should call? well we may be and a members house so both elder cottle and i can talk to our fams.

I will leave you know angie(guys and dolls)

I hope everything is going good at home is it starting to get green? not that it ever isnt green especially compared to here.

So easter/yesterday guess who came and suprised me? Dalto newell. it was so fun he stayed for all of church and then one of the members here invited us over for milkshakes it was cool i really appreciated how Brother potter reached out to dalto. Alot of people were at church as well it was cool he felt really welcome. i think that was good for the lad. but he had to leave at like 3 so we only had an hour of hang time but when we left bro potter told him how much he apperciated daltons service. then we left and i gave him my book of mormon. its one that i have studied in half its worn to bits not really i have just been studying it for my whole misssion its just a standard paperback copy but i hope it means somthin to him.. its cool i hope he reads it maybe.

well i love you guys and i will await your update eagerly.

love elder burbidge.

thats so crazy that rob is our new bishop i mean not that he cant do it but wow.

you guys are kinda naughty sitting back on the stage not a care in the world.

man sam is a good guy and i know he was a great misssionary i got a letter from hime last transfer but i never wrote back i love that kid.

today is trasfer day and p-day Elder kunz is getting transfered out and im getting elder cottle who has only been out for 2 transfers. president is trying to keep me young or something he just keeps sending me step sons. its fun but ive yet to have a senior companion since my trainer. or just a missionary thats my same age in the mish well we will just see. I still love the work no matter whos along for the ride.

that korihor story is one of my favs to i also love the response of the people of jershon. i can just see it he is giving his anti christ speal and they just walk up hes a little excited to see people coming to listen then mid sentance they put a sock in his mouth and shove him in the trunk of the 1970's caddy sittin right there.

well right now im reading the book of mormon again im in the last chapters of alma reading about moroni. I love reading about captian moroni what a man he must have been. I see him as a gentle man that just has the undeniable power of god to his back and he isnt affraid to whip it out.

this week has been good got to see alot of people. the people here in canyon country first seem to like us. Not everybody listens but at least they respect us. thats one thing i miss about Brazil we were everyones hero because we came so far to bring this message. and even if they were devoute catholic they iinvited us in and gave all they had to us. Just reminissing in the swelltering heat that has sprung upon us as of late.

I did get a new bike its a nice one i will take some pics and they will be on the next camera card wich is getting really full so i was thinking if you guys wanted to take some bites of life at home and dogs and family and friends then you could send it back and i could see all the wonderfulness of home life in the spring.

well I love you guys and miss you tell cati i only have 9 1/2 months left so she dosent have to worry.

hey MA and PA

well life is good i think im gonna buy a new bike. i have been barrowing another elders bike and well you know how that goes. its never fun to barrow. but we have some exciting news. we set a baptismal date with one of our investigators. it was awesome because he was at what seemed like an eternal investigator state so the story goes like this kind of a wierd one.

so Elder Kunz and i were teaching our investigator Herald Azuma and we have been teaching him a ton so we roll in a couple of weeks ago and teach about baptisim and really focus on him. he gives us the "we love you guys, in my own time ill be baptized" response so we are just like dang cause we went in there all bold like. So what happend this week herald calls us up and says hey ive been praying and really feel like its the right thing to do to be baptized. we are like What it was awesome. herald is suffering from brain cancer. they have operated twice but the cancer continues to grow so he is on radiation of some kind but he moves forward with unshaken faith its way cool. his family might take a little while. his wife is of muslim influece and moves alot slower toward the gospel but she will come around after herald.

well i just cheked the account and there the money was thank you for helping me out with the taxes.

i miss home alot i wish i could go hiking with you guys. we do sweet hikes accasionally so i get my fix here and now again. but it just dosent compare to the good northwest.

we need to see if we can make a trail from the begining of the robbins property and just up the border of it to the logging roads. we got to figure something out.

well i got a letter from corynn finaly and she is so excited to go to las vegas it will be fun for her.

I miss you guys and love you

Love Elder burbidge.

Hey Jess,

It's sunday evening and we had church today w/ Robb as Bishop for the first time. He did great. We are excited and know he will do well. Did you hear that his councelors are Bro. Zeller & Bro. Beus?

How was Sunday for you?

Dad and I found Chad's missionary journal out in the storeroom and have been reading it. He names allot of cities in CA and it sounds like he had some good experiences. It's cool that both your Grampa's served in that great state!!

We've REALLY enjoyed the pictures you sent. Thank you, thank YOU!!
Did you ever get the money??
What did you decide about a bike?

We just got done skyping Sis. They are all well. We are heading out there May 2. Hopefully they're won't be any tornados. (it is tornado season)

I finally got to go to dad's Sunday School class. He's amazing! I just loved listening to him and watch how well he does teaching and helping people understand the gospel.

Yesterday we went to Dayton's soccer game. He's keeper for JV. He did well. They played against Olympia, a 4 A school.

I think I finally don't have to be working full time now. We have a new girl and she'll be great. Her name is Terry. Last Friday was a killer court day though, we had 27 pages of people!!!

It's crazy how fast time is going isn't it.

We took our second big hike yesterday. Turning right at the top of the hill instead of left. We explored a couple of roads that led to nowhere, but it was fun and felt good to hit the trail. Cati sure enjoyed it and was bounding, leaping and frolicking all over the place. The sad news is someone bought the property (all ten acres) that has the trail to the logging roads on it. We're pretty bummed cause he's gonna put up a gate and keep all us "riders" out. We'll have to work out a deal w/ someone!!!

I hope you have a great day and that you feel our love and prayers. We are so grateful you have this opportunity and that you're working hard!

I love you tons and tons

Arlo & I were out in the storeroom movin stuff around and came upon this book of poems and stuff.... Chad had written in the front of it "Poems Written by my Mother" and we found this poem inside:

JUST A MISSIONARY

There he stands his head uncovered,
Shouting to the rushing throng,
Struggling through the human current
with his message and his song.

His companion staunch beside him
scattering tracts to those who pass,
and the mostly human river flows
along as smooth as glass

Few to listen some to ponder
More there be who rush on by
But the Elder goes on preaching
of the plan of God on High.

He is burning with the message,
He has brought from Zion's door,
And he pleads with those who listen
to repent and sin no more

Just a mormon missionary
in a strange unwelcome land,
But a man of strength and wisdom
Sanctioned by God's gracious hand.

Just a witness to the nation
of the gospel now restored.
But a faithful, willing servant
Blessed and prospered by the Lord.

Did you get to see all of Conf.? What was your favorite talk. I heard stories from dad and Anthon about a talk in Priesthood where the family was raising bunnies.......
My favorite was Richard G. Scott talking about his wife Janeen.
Of course it was all wonderful and there were some especially great ones I can't wait to get and study.
Saturday dad and I & Cati went on our first hike for the year. We hiked down past the beaver pond to the place where the creek runs by... where Cati has that little diving off place. It poured rain the whole time, but it was good. It felt good to get back out there and we are determined to get in GOOD shape.
I have been working full time for the last month, Tammy has found a different job and has left me with no one to take her place, I kinda thought about it but do not want to be that tied up!! I think the Judge has found someone to start this Tues. HOPe HoPe!!
I'm working on helping get a YSA program going here. We need something for the kids your age. Especially now that they will be coming home from College and missions soon. Any good ideas?
I hope all is well with you
I'm still anxiously waiting for the picture card!! I can't wait to see some pictures.

well dad you had some questions in your last email and i have some answers. except that i don't remember all the questions. but you asked about the people we are teaching right now we have a pretty good pool of people. as for the ones that are progressing well that's a different story that's kind of the fight out here. but we have a lady named Michelle who has two kids and wants more for them than she had she still hasn't come to church but agrees that our church has everything she is looking for. we have a man and his family Harald Azuma who has been under the knife a couple of times and we just found out that there is a tumor still in his brain that is still growing. He has been baptized in four different churches so he thinks he is good. we talked about priesthood authority. a couple of times asked him to pray but he always tells us he got his answer. answer being that he didn't need to worry about it and that everything would be alright. we just hope that he sincerely prays to know about the true and living restored gospel. we have another family the cortez family. we happened upon them out in the yard the dad was like, youre out here for 2 years biking up these hills just to share the gospel with people? we told him that's what we were all about. He is catholic and with all the meetings we have had with he and his family have helped them come closer as a family. the problem is that they told us that all the stuff we have been telling them has made them want to go back to church we were excited until they said their church. we are still working with them though. Another girl we are working with Jennifer is coming along well right now she works at magic mountain so she cant really make it to church but she loves the church and our lessons. last time we met she said that she will be getting an internship with some studio Disney or Warner bros i dont remember and that she would be able to be in control of her Sundays so we are looking forward to that. An old guy we are working with Skip he is in a bad way lately he has been having alot of breathing problems we went to the hospital a couple of weeks ago and gave him a blessing he knows quite abit about our church by now but its hard because he is so old. the other day he asked us to put his dog down which was about as old as he is. probably not the best idea but we told him we would. he is a salt of the earth kind of guy. Have no fear we went back over and the dog was safely dead. we didnt take the 22 to him. we have been working with some less actives lately and we had one legend name Bro Frost who hasent been to church in years. the missionaries started teaching him 4 years ago. this past sunday who sat next to us in the pew? bro frost. he stayd for all three hours and had an interview with the bishop awesome. there are a few more people but there are the highlights.

the high council member over missionary work in this stake has been really focused on the 15 plan but the wards have trouble with it so he devised the plan for us to go around and teach the missonary lessons to any ward family we can get to take the lessons. he has us and the wards working up to the perry plan. its cool though we have been teaching the ward council members families, we have been teaching the bishop the elders quorum and stuff its cool because after the first week of doing this program we had our dinner calendar completly filled out its awesome the ward is really loving elder kunz and me. we love it.

as for the other question you mentioned about the bike. things are not going so well the bike is falling apart. im currently out of money again even my missionary money has been going into this bike. i think you and mom might need to do me a favor im thinking that i might need to sell the road bike for a new bike out here. its just not going well. i cant afford to keep putting money into a bike. i guess i asked for it, i bought it from an elder who was going home so it had already been through two years of wear and said elder also weighed 230 lbs so the bike is kind of a lemon.

i kind of need some help.

well as for every thing else life is good the mission is an adventure and i miss you guys and ducati and the home ranch alot i wish i was coming with you guys up to bonners ferry but it will still be there in a year so its all good.

love you guys

It's been cold and snowy here since last Tues. or Wed. It's starting to warm up a bit this morning ~ good thing cause it's ward Conf. here.
Dad stuck some $$$ in your account. Just get a really cheep camera at Walmart so you have a bit left over to last you........ (last you)
Well, our visit w/ Nin had to come to an end on Thurs. She flew out on the worst of the snowy days. We couldn't stand letting her go, that Penny is the sweetest thing!!! This Fri. I fly to UT to stay w/ the Burbidge kids while their parents take a cruise to Mexico. That ought to be fun. Then, we're planning to go and stay w/ Nicole in May (right in the heart of Tornado season!!)
I'll be writing you a letter (by hand) so I'll let you go here for now.
I love you tons and tons

my companions name is elder Kunz and he is from nampa idaho he has only been out one transfer so im finishing up the training on him. he is probably my favorite companion in the mish thus far.

The bike works pretty good im gonna need to buy a new front wheel pretty soon the rim is all warpped and poopy but it will do for now.

the only major problem is the camera situation i dont have a fully functioning camera after the bike accident.

corynn wrote me a couple of weeks ago she is getting ready to graduate and she said that she is just finishing up her mission papers so thats pretty cool. I think im gonna write her back.

i guess hand writing would be cooler sometimes its hard to do the email thing i just hate buying stamps.

this morning at like 5 we went hiking to these really cool waterfalls way up in the mountains it was awesome. for the rest of the day we are probably gonna go shopping and write some letters and play some games and stuff.

well great uncle gordon is trying to get ahold of us i still havent been able to get ahold of your cousins. but ive called them a bunch of times so i dont know.

well ive got to run but i love you guys and tell cati i love her as well.

thank you so much for the birthday package. The cookies are so good. well here i am 21 YEARS OF age and im just livin the high life the other day i went down to the dmv and registered for a california drivers license and i was thinking that they would just take my picture and just hand over the new license. wrong I had to take the written test again man all of the sudden i got real nervous. then the typiclly unplesant lady behing the desk asked "Have you even read the material" and i was in a blur i said no so she flopped a drivers hand book on the desk and said get your test when your number is called and go over to the corner and fill it out. so im in a haze thinking what do i even know about driving in california. so i get all situated and ready to test and i finish her up and wait in line to get the thing corrected. three ladies ahead of me got turnned away because of crapy scores so i thought i was dead. got up there i could have missed six but i only missed three and they were particular to california driving so basicly my new license is on its way to the mission office.

well one more thing that i hadnt realized had broken from the crash was my camera so iam now at this time camera-les

i will send the camera card home though it is full i have some sweet vidios of the hills arond here at night.

well life is good 2 of the people i taught and set baptismal dates with when i was in north hollywood are getting baptized this coming sunday im pretty excited.

thanks for being number 1 parents im loving life out here.

Hey Jess,
We are thinking of you on your day and hoping you're having a great birthday. We're celebrating all of our old Jesse memories ~ especially driving the old brown buick up to the hosible -in the snow- to get you and take you home to be in our family!! We are so grateful that you are serving a mission. We love who you are and how much you love the gospel and the Lord. You are such an inspiration to us!! :) We feel so blessed to have you in our life.

Hopefully you got your package. We stuck a little money in there so you could get yourself a birthday cake and some ice cream.

We really enjoyed reading your last e-mail, well except we feel bad that you got wounded!! Are you all healed up? Did you replace your helmet? Is the bike fixed?

We know the Lord has great things in store for you and we know you are doing great things.

Did you meet the Lee's yet? Next weekend Uncle Gordon will be there for a visit. Maybe you'll see them somehow. (I know you arn't suppose to hook up with the relations, but you might run into them)

Here's a note from Facebook!!

thank you so much mom they were sorly needed. so let me tell you of the grand adventures of this week its been a crazy one. it all starts with wednesday afternoon we are coming home right before dinner so we could grab the story we were going to use in our dinner lesson. so we are riding along and on the way home there is this spot in the sidewalk that is a perfect accedent waiting to happen we usually avoid it but this day we had some good spiritual expereinces and i was in the clouds. so i found myself heading right towards this spot of death in the side walk and ther was no room for coreection so i follow my natral motorcyclist instict and just stand up and jump it (remember that if i hadnt things would have been alot worse) so im sailing through the are and everything is fine until the ground started approaching and the funny thing was i was headed straight into a flower bed. so i landed and almost recovered but ther was a seperator in the flower bed and it was basicly just a cement curb caught me and through back onto the side walk and i slide riping my pants and a couple of good gashes into my knee leg arm and one good one on the chin. so now just zoom out on this situation location right in front of the mexican restuarant mi ranchitos. for everyone to see. my companion had already rounded the corner and was well on his way when he noticed that i wasnt following and he just thought that maybe my chain came off(which happens frequently) so he just waited until i came pedeling around the corner as fast as i could to try and escape my embarrasment. the damage done was as follows a bent front rim a broken back spoke a pair of pants some scuffs on the shoes and a crack right down the center of the helmet so that was kind of a set back luckly i didnt spend a ton of money on the bike because i wnt to the bike shop to see what they could do and it looks like im gonna have to shell out 40$ on a new rim but i think thats pretty much it because they can take some of the spokes off the bent rim and put them on the back rim. well i probably will have to get a pair of new pants but i found a place thats real cheap.

on the better side we found an awesome family that has alot of questions and concerns but so far they love us and really are just looking for somthing for their family so it is going to be alot of fun helping them. well we bike an average of 30 to 40 miles aday and im feeling more in shape so its alot of fun. this sunday was stake conference and we had an area athority seventy come and he was really cool. there was alot of talkes that were just super awesome and really gave me a spiritual high.

well i love my life i hope everything is good at home i miss you guys and tell cati i love her and miss her.

Love your son

i just saw the $$$$ in my account thanks for doing that the bike needed some TLC.

I wish i could go and see aly and payt i just sent a letter to payton i need to send one to aly i just dont know her address tell her to write me so i can write her back.
Its so cool here in canyon country its spreed out and some people even have acres as in plural. the other night we biked to the top of one of the hardest hill in our area to go to an appointment and then when we got there they ditched on us so we rode up there for nothing kind of stinky but the ride down was way fun then we biked to the opposite end of our area up seirra highway and saw a real sweet family. its been fun.

i havent met the Lees. they dont live in our area there is like 3 wards here so they are in a different one. but i cant wait to meet them it will be so fun.

so who was that sister missionary comming out from our stake to this mission? and how is lauren hatch doing is she still wanting to go on a mission?
I just wrote jordan an email a little while ago im hoping to get one from mr cheny's cookies in soa paulo brasil.

well whats new at home anything exciting anyone getting married that i know?

It would probably be easier if you sent the shirts if thats ok. i just need some short sleeve and one long sleeve. I dont remember the long sleeve size that i have now but short sleeve is a large and a 16 1/2 neck size so i dont know sleeve length is probably a i dont know somthing long though i love you guys and miss you hope your week goes good.

hey sorry about the no emailing but here in canyon country first ward the elders email on the right day so i didnt get to email so im here at the family history center with the zone leaders emailing you guys. well im on bike finally but i have been having some slight problems, the bike has some hard times I really need to take to the shop and get a tune up. but that brings me to my other problem im out of doe so i was thinking of maybe an early birthday to the elder burbidge birthday fund so i can take care of my bike and stuff. another problem is my white shirt situation is in the lacking. I need some new ones pretty bad and i was wondering if you could send some this way. this biking stuff is a lot harder on the equiptment. 27077 hidaway ave # 58 canyon country, Ca 91351 is the new address.

well canyon country is treating me pretty sweet the biking is nutz its only hill either straight up or straight down. it gets pretty hard core. well we are about to have district meeting and do our stuff but i will now email you on mondays. man i do miss north holly wood alittle bit but the change is cool. well im just gettin in the hang of the new landscape.
well i love you guys and if you could send some help funds i could use them the bike is taking it hard.

I kinda had to crack up when you said that dad was staying at church and you went to ward conference. i think its awesome that you are in the stake relief society. it will be fun. but that must not be very fun with dad in portland for 3 days but good thing cati is there to love you. how is that dog is she started to get depressed tell her im still thinking about her. I cant lie im pretty tired of the north hollywood area this transfer im pretty sure im gettin transfered which is in like a week well its on the 24 so im hopin for a new adventure. this mourning we went hiking and we went to the top of this mountain and then we stunted down this little bike trail and got it all on video so i will be sending a camera card home pretty soon.
so who were you talking about getting her call here?

well in February ill be stepping up to my year mark pretty crazy. i think after these transfers here in north hollywood all of my transfers hereafter will be relatively short just because i was here so long. but it will all be an adventure. well Im pretty excited this last week we got 3 new investigators. its been awesome we have been blest here lately and we love every second of it we are also setting a baptismal date with a kid who is dieing to be baptised so its pretty cool i think he will be baptized after this transfer so i might not be here but it will be cool nonetheless.

but i really have to go time is almost up but i love you and im thinking of you while you are all alone at home. sometimes i wish i could be all alone. haha but i will talke to you next week love you son.

Hi Jess,
I'm at work so must make this quick. They've been tearing up the walls and junk next door and it's so loud and annoying!! I've got to take some Excedrin!!! I've been soooo sick since last Monday in Utah.
Daddy is in Portland for the next 3 days and the weather has been cold and wet here -it snowed all night last night, then switched to rain and it's a slushy mess!
We saw True Grit in the theatre w/ Tone & Jen. It was good but not as, I liked the girl in the new movie but Rooster never called her "little sister"
Did I tell you I'm in the Stake R.S. now? Last Sunday was my first Ward Conf. I felt a bit out of place ~ the wierdest thing was Sunday morning getting ready to go off to G.H. Ward and dad, home, going to church by himself!!!!! After 18 yrs of him going to Ward Conf. we've switched!!!!
We got home from Ut last Saturday and then we went to a play in Oly w/ the Jackson family. The Wizard of Oz!!! It was so fun. And it was SO nice of them to include us. The house seems extra empty since we've been back. Cati's there to keep us company though.
Interesting I just saw an article about the Sisters attire being changed a bit. They interviewed a girl who just got her call to the San Fernando, CA spanish speaking mission. Cool hey?
Life is great, we're happy and healthy here and living & loving the Gospel!!!
Interesting story emerges from Alma 2-4
Alma just get's made the leader and a guy (Amlici) steps forward wanting to be King. Some of the people are tricked into following him because of his wisdom (worldly) and his cunning ways. -makes you wonder if someone could trick you into following them cause they're good looking and smart??????- They end up fighting it out but are beaten by the Nephites. They were able to beat them because Alma was inspired to have them do some specific things: Prepare to meet them, Arm themselves, Assigned leaders to instruct them, Sent spies to find out what was going on (here's where they found out the Lamanites had joined w/ the Alicites) Mighty Prayer. And Alma says to God "allow me to live so I can be an instrument in your hands to save this people" It says the Lamanites and Amlicites were as numerous as the sands of the sea, but the Nephites (in the strength of the Lord) beat them and watched them take off running!!!!
I LOVE the Book of Mormon. I love the stories that I can take lessons from and use in my life. The story continues and tells of how the Amlicites marked themselves!! They wanted to show everyone that they've turned against God so they marked their own selves!!! Strange, but makes you wonder, do we ever mark ourselves????
Alma3:19 .......every man that is cursed bring upon himself his own condemnation.
What a great leader Alma became, what a great missionary, a shakey start, a fantastic finish.
I love you son,
